Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your child’s education as well as get to know the staff and other parents and carers.
Research shows that children benefit when their parents or carers are actively involved in their education and school life.
You can help by:
listening to children read in the classroom
volunteering on sports days
helping supervise excursions
getting involved in fundraising activities
joining school committees.
If you would like to volunteer in the classroom, at school events, on excursions or at P&C activities you need to complete “Working with Children Check” procedures before being approved by the Principal.
Parents/carers will need to come to the school office to:
complete a form “Appendix 11”.
provide 100 points, proof of identity. Please note that original documents must be presented and sighted by office staff. For further information on 100 point proof of identity see Appendix 6, proof of identity
Once this process is completed the Principal will process the documentation and give approval once completed. Approval status will last for 5 years. After 5 years parents/carers will need to reapply to renew approval.
